I finally got to see the fourth installment of the (allegedly) best animated saga in movie history.
Let's get this straight. I really enjoyed this film. At first, when rumours started about another movie I was very upset. Why to add a new movie to a film series if it works perfectly as a trilogy with an epic ending? And I have to admit that in the first 20 minutes of the movie I was getting BORED.
That ended up quickly as the movie progressed to a more adventurous theme and kept exploring Forky's arc with touches of very subtle mental illness and acceptance and shit like that. I liked it.
In the negative side, I really wanted to catch up with the rest of the gang, I felt like they weren't given enough screen time and barely had any relevance. I missed the trio of Woody, Buzz and Jessie, but okay, still not completely mad about it.
The end was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Bittersweet. Here are the spoilers, you've been warned: Woody finding another motive to follow his journey without Andy or Bonnie was exactly what happens with life. I really felt that, we all can relate to that moment when we feel like moving on, even if that implies to leave your comfort zone and friends behind. And he is reunited with Bo Peep, and our new furry friends. Those two were hilarious, by the way.
I definitely feel like this is the actual ending for the saga. But, who knows? I felt the exactly same with the third one and here I am, a couple of hours later of crying my heart out praising a film I wasn't even sure about.
