Ladies have you ever noticed that one side of our body is more sensitive when getting waxing / threading done? We talked to one of our specialists today and found out that a lot of clients experienced it so we tried to understand why.
Pain thresh holds vary from person to person so its perfectly normal to find one side hurting more than the other, or that one side is more hairy than the other. Most of our beautiful ladies repeatedly mentioned left side being more sensitive than right. Let’s see what can cause this.
First argument here would be that hair grows in different stages and its quite possible that you have more follicles on one side than the other, i.e. not only left side can feel more pain but the side that has more/longer hair on it.
Another theory assumes that it has something to do with the way the different halves of the brain process sensation. When the waxing / threading begins the brain adjusts to the pain on one side making it bearable so when you get to wax / thread the other side it's a shock to the brain and the pain receptors are more sensitive so it hurts more.
It is also possible that everyone has one side that hurts more and they say it's usually your non-dominant side. It’s connected with the pain receptors in your non-dominant side being more alert than your dominant side. This tendency is more prominent with women.
Let us know in comments if you’ve ever experienced this and which side is more sensitive for you.
Summer has arrived and here is some Summer hair care wisdom this Wednesday; .
Protection; just like your face, your hair needs protection from the sun and elements. A vitamin A serum can protect your hair and scalp .
Hydration; hydration mists will give your hair a healthy glow throughout the day! .
Frizz; summer brings with it humidity... try some anti-frizz products to tame the mane.
Colour; add a regular hair masque to your wishing routine and keep your natural (or dyed) colour looking healthy. .
Sand, sun and surf; colour corrective shampoos can combat the effects of chlorine, salt water and sun. .
Keep it natural; minimise fuss and keep your hair as natural as possible... less hair dryer and straightener will do the world of good. . Change is as good as a holiday; so why not try something new this summer? .
I miss it but I’m not ready to go back just yet!!! I’m enjoying my time at home sooooo much. I started hairdressing when Leah was only 3. And I missed out on so much in those years.
Also the thought of wearing a mask for 10+ hrs a day isn’t very appealing to me ( I know they are necessary). But they are fu**ers to breath in. I’m also embarrassed to think a hairdressing body thinks us hairdressers are somehow more essential then just say ppl waiting on life saving treatments such as cancer treatments etc. STOP!!! The health of my family and myself is more important then profits and losses!! Because this is what it’s really about, money!! Not about the safety and well-being of workers and clients. The audacity of it all. .
